Seismic Holler
The Anderson and VCUarts 2026 Excellence in Adjunct Research Solo Exhibition
08.28 - 09.30, 2026
In Seismic Holler and the accompanying risograph publication Seismic Holler: An Appalachian Love Poem, the artist synthesizes material research grounded in sites of fossil fuel mining and familial histories in North and South Central Appalachia. Layering geological, botanical, and medical elements with earth pigments and biopolymers, Showers-Cruser considers “transcorporeal” ties between land and human bodies when faced with sustained intervention.
Copies of the accompanying limited-edition risograph publication are available by donation to community resource organizations.
